An Elegant Collision:
East Meets West, Nature Meets Structure
When I envision a peaceful world, I see people from all walks of life, from all corners of the world, and from all cultures and religions coming together for a common cause.
When I envision a harmonious future, I see people and their artificial creations both taking from and giving back to the natural environment in a mutual, interdependent manner.
Nothing could have better represented a world thriving on natural balance and diversity than Ziran (自然 or natural, spontaneous, free) , a fashion label by multi-cultured, conscious designer Kelly Wong Shanahan.
Ziran's masterpieces are all thoughtfully crafted with "xiang yun sha" silk (香雲紗 or perfumed-cloud silk), a type of peace silk that is hand-weaved in small batches, made using traditional methods with cocoons abandoned by their silkworms, and imbued only by nourishing, earth-made dyes.
And every piece artfully harmonizes eco-inspired elements and clean-cut, structural lines, resulting in looks that are both soft and bold at the same time.
It's the perfect fusion of elegance and edginess.
Stepping into my Lotus Dress, I savored its luxurious, buttery texture as it caressed and soothed my skin. The top rested firmly on my upper body with its fitted design, while the skirt danced freely to the desert breeze.
I closed my eyes, opened my arms, inhaled all the natural beauty around me, and let myself be--all different sides of me coming together in peace and harmony.
Momentarily whisked away from reality, I felt natural, spontaneous, and free.
